Summer is here, should I do therapy…YES and here is why
When doing this type of work, whether it is working through the loss of someone, healing past trauma, looking at behaviours and reasons for unhealthy coping mechanisms, life stressors, anxiety, or any other issue you would like support with, it is important to find space to release the work you do in therapy.
Counselling is not an easy journey, and if it is possible, it is important to be able to balance your sessions with self care and healthy coping strategies.
In the summer months, clinics typically see a drop in client referrals, this is because as humans we do not feel we need support when we feel good. During the summer months we are enjoying the sunshine and vitamin C, getting outside more, walking, running, hiking or even biking, we swim in lakes and pools, we see family and friends more.
All of these things are healthy and can be super supportive, so why not start your therapy journey when you are feeling so good and have more capacity, allowing yourself space and energy to talk about some of the issues and concerns you want to work through with a counsellor.
