Working OT: In Person & Online Sessions
Hi, my name is Kayla
As an Occupational Therapist (OT), I believe in helping you live a life full of meaningful activities, exploring what that means for each individual as we are all unique. I use a compassionate lens with a collaborative client-centered approach. We work together starting by building a foundation of understanding and then finding strategies that help you to work with your condition, instead of against it. Those strategies may include behavioural activation, exposure therapy, psychoeducation, building routines and structure, CBT techniques, DBT techniques, developing skills for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)/Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) and remedial/compensatory cognitive strategies.
Through both group and individual formats, I have helped clients expand their comfort zones, return to work and re-engage in their important activities. I have personal and professional experience with adults who have following conditions: anxiety, depression, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperactive Disorder), and TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury).
Outside of work, I am a toddler mom and pet parent. I love escape rooms, playing board games, painting (my sporadic hobby), traveling and staying home. I, personally, value learning and believe part of being human means we are forever growing.
